It is not possible to remember Alex without smiling. All memories of the kid are riddled with bizarre humour, circumstances or outfits. Easily the most quotable person you’ve ever met, Alex was a smorgasbord of frivolity and seriousness in equal measure. It is little wonder then that the contest held annually in his obscure memory celebrates these very things and, as a little bonus, unites the heads that grew up on our highly revered Mona Vale beach once again. Apart from toppling tax-return day as the most anticipated day on many a calendar, the contest provides such an abundance of photogenic moments it was inevitable a show would be held to showcase just a little snippet of an otherwise momentous, and fleeting, day.
All large, framed prints are of archival quality and framed in an acid free finish, you can bid silently for your fave on the swing tags accompanying the photo. Reprints of the photographs are available – just let the clipboard girl or bar person know, and they’ll gather your deets.
The smaller individual photographs will be priced according to awesomeness, and you can buy whichever tickles your fancy. Again, just let the clipboard girl or bar person know and they’ll sort it out.
Alcohol will be available with a goldie and your gold coin donation will get you a ticket for a chance to win a Hot Buttered surfboard lovingly illustrated by a mystery artist.
